Isabella's is in a huddle of places open for brunch, & I'm pretty sure it's the best value meal this side of any bridge in town.
Spinach, apple, mint & ginger (w the right amount of ginger apparently) juice for $4?
2 poached eggs on rye with ricotta & avocado for $9? Sides of haloumi and smoked salmon for $3 & $4 respectively? We felt like we'd slipped into a students dream haunt, and with clean everything and attentive staff.
Not known for leaving anything on our plates, we could not finish these meals.
Add in generous decent coffee to boot, either bring a healthy appetite or share a plate and add on - it will keep you going until dinner. -

I can't say much.
Sat at a table with my wife for about ten minutes before noticing a staff member anywhere, except for one sitting behind the counter not even raising her head.
There were about 5 occupied tables when we arrived and they were happily eating.
Eventually a wait person appeared. I'm not sure she even noticed us, but she headed straight to the table next to us and started clearing it without acknowledging us at all.
After drawing her attention and realizing that she was disinterested, we stood up and left.
We walked across the road and had a perfectly acceptable Italian meal at Mammas & Pappas -

The value of the food at this restaurant is amazing, with the pastas only being $8 for a Friday night deal. The portion was also substantial, leaving me full after a plate of pasta.
The flavour of the pasta was only average though, as I have had better pastas from other restaurants. The service was also average, as no one greeted or served us when we entered and we had to call them over to take our order and for the bill. They got the order for the table beside us wrong too.
However, for the cheap price, this restaurant isn't bad, and is good for a meal on a budget! -

Isabella's restaurant is a great little place in Randwick with a lovely owner. advertised as an "Italian seafood restaurant" but really just a mix of pastas, schnitzels and fish and chips. It has a huge range of breakfast options too. People wouldn't be going here for the high quality food, rather the significantly cheap prices. Don't get me wrong - the food is nice, but I don't want to give the impression it's fine dining. Pastas are only $11 and steaks $14 - this is insane!!
they're open 7:30-3pm and then 4:30-10 and they are ALWAYS busy. Usually with families, dates and heaps of backpackers after a night out.
I've gone for dinner before but it's a bit heavy with huge meals and creamy, oily food. My choice is usually for the breakfast dining. I had the goats cheese omelette which comes with two slices of toast of sourdough and baby spinach. For $7... how do the staff even get paid? My husband gets bacon, eggs, Yorkshire puddings - huge! The food is nice and such generous servings. So many varied options; French toast, waffles, muesli, big brekkies - all for $7 - overall a great, casual and cheap option
Meals are very generous portions and it is also BYO. They're so popular, they've even opened a new location in the Randwick spot.
